Secretary Elaine L. Chao Celebrates Fifth Anniversary of DisabilityInfo.gov

WASHINGTON, October 29 U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao celebrated the fifth anniversary of DisabilityInfo.gov, which is a collaborative effort among 22 federal agencies that provides a one-stop federal source for disability-related information. The website is managed by the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).

DisabilityInfo.gov aims to provide Americans with disabilities and others with national, state and local tools on numerous subjects, including benefits, civil rights, community life, education, employment, housing, health, technology and transportation, and to date has had over 7 million visitors.

The site was created after the introduction of President George W. Bush’s 2001 New Freedom Initiative policy, a government-wide effort to accelerate the full inclusion of people with disabilities into mainstream American life.
